Adam Sud Shows Up For A Major Lifestyle Change
Duration - 01:01:28 Hour
If you need to hear a powerful story of change and inspiration, get ready for this amazing episode with Adam Sud. We get deep.
In 2012, Adam Sud’s life was completely out of control. Although he grew up privileged, he never felt like he was “enough,” after being diagnosed with ADHD as a child. He became addicted to drugs, fast food, and had begun doctor shopping and forging prescriptions. His life nearly came to an end when he attempted suicide by drug overdose. After he woke up, Adam realized he was trying to escape pain, not life itself.
He checked into rehab where he was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, erectile dysfunction, bipolar disorder, suicidal depression, anxiety disorder, sleep disorder, and ADHD.
Then after staying at Asher’s sober living facility, Transcend, Adam’s life changed completely. He began a plant-based lifestyle, becoming a vegetarian and eventually vegan. At four months sober, he no longer had diabetes and finally felt like he was enough. His life changed forever.
Adam is now a diabetes and food addiction coach for Mastering Diabetes, a program created by Robby Barbaro who was previously a guest on the show.
He is also the founder of Plant Based For Positive Change, and currently studying the effects of implementing a nutrient-dense diet and nutrition education in early addiction recovery.
More importantly, he finally feels like he is able to show up fully.

Jed Payne Shows Up To Be A Christian
Duration - 42:22 Minute
A rabbi and a Christian walk into a podcast to discuss spirituality and sobriety. Today our guest is Jed Payne who hosts the Church and Other Drugs podcast. Like Asher, he grew up in a religious household. Jed had a fear of sin, going to hell and suffered from anxiety. But he didn't like drugs until he tried cough syrup and then became addicted to cocaine at age 15.
Jed shares his story of going In and out of treatment, burning bridges, becoming homeless and living in his car. His relationship with God was at odds with his addiction, as he smoked crack and preached the gospel at the same time. But after a spiritual experience in rehab, he had a massive surrender to the process of recovery.
While he is sober today and works in the treatment industry, Jed bravely opens up about the challenges he still experiences. This includes his fear of having children, living with depression and waiting for the other shoes to drop after he has been through so much. Although Jed and Asher practice different religions, they learn they have similar views of God.
Asher was also a guest on Church and Other Drugs. Don't miss his episode.

Duration - 57:35 Minute
You might have seen media personality and mom influencer Ali Levine on Bravo’s Stripped. Today, she joins us to talk about parenting and her experience with postpartum depression.
While Ali seemingly had it all and loved being a mom, she had no idea she was experiencing postpartum until she hit an emotional bottom. Like many first time moms, she didn’t understand how she could love her daughter, Amelia Rei and be sad at the same time.
As a father of five, Asher gets deep about the challenges of being a parent, especially as Ali is now pregnant with her second child. The two talk about parent shaming, the stress of comparing yourself to others, why shame doesn’t lead to self-improvement, and why taking care of yourself makes you a better parent.
Whether you have kids or do not, you will relate to this episode.

Andrea Arlington Shows Up For Reality
Duration - 34:11 Minute
Showing up for friends and family with addiction is tough. No one knows this better than former reality star and founder of Families United For Recovery, Andrea Arlington. You might remember her from Pretty Wild on E! (Leslie Mann played her in the movie The Bling Ring) or her daughters Alexis Neiers Haines and Tess Taylor. Today, Andrea is a completely different person than you probably remember her to be.
With two daughters in long term recovery from heroin addiction, Andrea shares her own story of leaving home as a teenager to become a model, having a brother who was an addict, and feeling like she didn’t belong. She opens up to Asher about guilt, shame, how Brene Brown changed her life, the dangers of being a people pleaser, numbing out, healthy boundaries, feeling like a bad mom and how her son-in-law’s brutal honesty was exactly what she needed to change.
Today, Andrea is a Daring Way Facilitator, ICF, PCC Life Coach, a better mother, grandmother and inspiration to others.
Asher talks about how he had some of the same maladaptive behaviors and what lead him to change, as well as why drugs and alcohol are a short-term solution to a longer-term problem.

Emily Lynn Paulson Shows Up To Be A Sober Mom
Duration - 31:15 Minute
Emily Lynn Paulson was just like Asher—a parent to five kids who had a seemingly perfect life on the outside. She had a thriving business and an Instagram feed anyone would be jealous of. But everything was edited, filtered and Photoshopped (at least in the spiritual sense).
In real life, Emily was an alcoholic who was hiding deep secrets. In this episode, she gets deep about making mistakes and learning to forgive herself, the importance of self-care, sleep, meditation, Catholicism, exercise, making certain things in her life non-negotiable and how she finally got sober.
But perhaps the best lesson here is that she finally learned to stop caring what other people think, which is something most of us struggle with.
Emily also talks about writing her book Highlight Real.
Emily’s sobriety date is January 2nd, 2017! If you’re struggling this time of year, Emily’s story will prove that you don’t need a glass of champagne to celebrate a new beginning.
This episode is a must-listen listen for everyone. Even if you don’t struggle with addiction, alcoholism or being a parent, it’s very easy to relate to Emily’s story.
